An occasional series where in no particular order I feature some of my favourite musical moments.
Led by megaphone-wielding motormouth Steven E, Age Of Chance burned brightly on the late ’80s indie scene, before going on to sign for Virgin.
One of the first first bands to meld buzz saw punk guitars and hip hop break beats – they’re perhaps best known for their cover of Prince’s Kiss released while the purple one’s effort was still in the charts.
But Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Noise sees the band at their peak.
Name-checked by Manic Street Preachers’ James Dean Bradfield on the recent BBC docco Music for Misfits, they championed cycle wear as a fashion essential. Funny how that never caught on.
“We’ve got a thing, hey girls and boys!” – they certainly had. Wonder what Steven E’s up to now.

Love this! Oh and Steven E is running an amazing vintage shop in Harrogate.
