TIRELESS London post-punkers Leika are hoping to build on their growing live reputation with a new studio album due out in October.
Described by BBC Radio 6 Music’s Tom Robinson as ‘the catchiest bits of The Jam with added sax appeal’, the band have been working with big name producer Greg Haver, whose past clients include Manic Street Preachers and Bullet For My Valentine.
Known for their incessant gigging, the five-piece, who’ve also been compared to Talking Heads and Buzzcocks, played the Camden Rocks Festival in June, alongside the likes of The Cribs and Libertines‘ Carl Barat.
Founded by singer-guitarists Romano Giorgi and Jonathan Mann, Leika – which means Play in Icelandic – have been putting the final touches to the follow-up to their well-received first album Space On Tuesday.
Entitled Love On The Run the new long player will be released on the band’s own Leika label in the Autumn.
It will be available for download on iTunes and Amazon, with limited edition CD and vinyl copies on sale from selected record stores. Check their website for details.
Leika play the London Water Rats on October 7, with more yet to be announced dates to follow.
