In no particular order some of my favourite music moments. No 11 Don’t Believe the Hype by Public Enemy.
Fuelled by the blistering lyrics of Chuck D, arguably Hip Hop’s most articulate wordsmith, Public Enemy have been biting back at the American media for nearly 30 years now.
They announced themselves to great critical acclaim with debut album Yo! Bum Rush The Show in 1987, before enjoying massive success with sophomore effort It Takes A Nation Of Millions To Hold Us Back.
Don’t Believe The Hype was the killer cut from that record and the one song with which the band are most readily identified.
There’s a lot of anger in Public Enemy, but a lot of humour too, they recently got a lift to a Sheffield Arena gig in a fan’s Ford Focus see the full story here and Don’t Believe The Hype embodies that philosophy.
Show these people what time it is boyyyeeee!
