Bordeaux beatmakers Smokey Joe & The Kid are back with a new single Please Come Home ahead of a new album and tour, which will see them play Glastonbury in the summer.
A furious mash-up of hip hop, jazz and electro swing, the single highlights the Gallic duo’s talent for blending a smorgasbord of sounds into a stomping floor filler.
The accompanying video doesn’t disappoint either, vaguely reminiscent of The Prodigy‘s controversial promo for Smack My Bitch Up, it starts innocently enough, with the boys filming themselves on a mobile phone.
But when then the device is ‘jacked – as I believe the young people say – by a trio of teenage hoodlums, all manner of shenanigans ensue. Be sure to check it out below.
Please Come Home is the first cut from the band’s new album Running At The Moon, released in the UK on May 6 on Banzai Lab.
The album features contributions from the likes of Fred Wesley, Pigeon John, ASM, Chill Bump, Blake Worrell, Youthstar, Charles X, Yoshi, Ua Tea, NON Genetic and DJ Netik.
